Privacy Policy for GeoSwiftSOS

Effective Date: July 31, 2026

GeoSwiftSOS ("the App") is a free mobile application developed by Aurel Design ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what the App accesses on your device, why it needs it, and what happens to that information.

The short version: the App has no server, no user account and no analytics. Everything it does happens on your phone. Nothing about you ever reaches us.

Information We Collect

We collect nothing. The App accesses the following on your device, and uses it locally:

  • Location. Read from GPS (with network positioning as a fallback) so that your emergency message states where you actually are. The coordinates are placed into the outgoing SMS and then discarded. They are never written to storage and never uploaded.
  • SMS. Used only to send your emergency message to the contacts you saved. The App does not read, store, or forward any message on your phone, and it is not an SMS handler.
  • Accelerometer. Used for fall detection while you have that feature switched on. Sensor readings are processed as they arrive and are never recorded anywhere.
  • Notifications. Used to show that fall monitoring is running, and to display the countdown with a cancel button before an SOS is sent.

Your Emergency Contacts

Names and numbers you add are stored in a local SQLite database on your phone only.

The App does not request access to your contact list. When you pick someone from your phonebook, the Android system contact picker hands the App that single contact and nothing else. The App has no permission to read the rest of your contacts.

Internet Access

The App declares the internet permission for one reason: when a data connection happens to be available, Google Play services can use it to speed up the initial GPS fix (assisted GPS). No data about you is sent over that connection, and the App works fully without it.

Background Operation

When you enable fall detection, the App runs a foreground service so that Android keeps the accelerometer active while your screen is off. Android requires a persistent notification for this, which is why you will see one while monitoring is on. This is also why fall detection uses noticeably more battery than the rest of the App.

How the Information Is Used

Solely to:

  • Recognise a probable fall and start a countdown that you can cancel.
  • Send an SMS containing your location to the contacts you saved.
  • Show your current coordinates on the App's main screen.

We do not use any of it for marketing, profiling, advertising or analytics.

Sharing Your Information

We do not share, sell, or transfer any information from the App to anyone. The only time information leaves your phone is when an SMS travels over your mobile network to a contact you chose yourself. That is an ordinary text message, handled by your mobile carrier under their own terms and pricing.

Data Storage, Retention and Deletion

Contacts and settings are stored locally using an SQLite database and Android's standard preferences. Nothing is stored on our servers, because we do not operate any.

Automatic backup is disabled for the App, so your emergency contacts are not copied to Google Drive and are not carried over during device transfer.

Deleting a contact removes it immediately. Uninstalling the App erases everything it held. There is nothing for us to delete on our side, because we never had it.

We recommend keeping your device secured with a PIN or biometric lock.

Website Data Collection

This website is separate from the App and is subject to the following.

Contact form. If you voluntarily submit the form, we receive your name, email address and message content. This is used solely to reply to your enquiry, is not stored in a database, and is not shared with third parties.

Advertising. This website displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and may process data such as your IP address, browser and pages visited. This happens on the website only — the App itself contains no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

You can review and change how Google personalises advertising at adssettings.google.com, and manage cookies through your browser settings.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided information, contact us and we will assist.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR and comparable laws you have rights of access, correction, erasure and portability over personal data held about you. Because we hold no personal data about App users, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct or erase — the data lives only on your own device and is entirely under your control. For enquiries about the website contact form, write to us using the address below.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here and the effective date will be updated. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
